You can make initial contact by phone or using the contact page form on this website.
If you do telephone me directly you are likely to get my answer phone or I may not be able to speak to you personally. Please do leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am available.
Following a conversation we will make an appointment. This will give us an opportunity to meet each other, see if we can work together and if therapy is the right treatment for you and a way forward.
Please note that if you need to make an appointment with a Consultant Psychiatrist, I can help you to arrange this but the cost will need to be funded by yourself or through your private medical insurance.
If Counselling Psychology / Psychotherapy is not the most appropriate service, or if I feel I am not the best person I will refer you to the best service that meets your needs.
If you are still feeling unsure or have a lot of questions that need answering a free telephone consultation is available.
Fees are charged per hour and are discussed with the family or referrer at the initial consultation. For self-funding families, I am happy to see children and their families without a formal referral.
Sessions are 50 minutes long, are usually weekly and at the same time each week.
Payment is weekly or monthly in advance by either cash, cheque or online payment. Payments must be made by day of appointment at the latest. Currently I do not charge VAT for my private clinic.
Fee reductions may be available for people on low incomes and psychological therapists in training and this is negotiated on an individual basis.
Different fee scales apply to insurance companies, employee assistance schemes and private healthcare schemes.
The insurance company or health organisation would need to contact me to confirm they are in support of the consultations and assessments and to clarify the extent of your cover. I am then happy to invoice the insurance company directly.
Once a commitment to therapy has been agreed your allocated space will not be available to anyone else.
Cancelling or rearranging your appointment requires 5 working days notice. Cancellations cannot be accepted by email.
I will always endeavour to find an alternative appointment but please note this may not be possible on occasions.
Missed appointments through non-attendance will be charged at the full rate.
Cancellations costs are not usually met by third parties (e.g. private health insurance, medico-legal fees). Please contact Dr Dhillon-Stevens if you wish to clarify the refund situation, before you make a booking.
